Kolkata:  Joining the debate over introducing Right of the country’s electorate to recall their representatives, senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader LK Advani has opposed the idea.

Turning down the latest proposal of Team Anna, he said, “I feel that the law of recalling lawmakers is not justified. This can lead to instability and complexity in a vast country like India.”

Expressing his ideas on the proposal, Advani said, “There is a need for effective electoral reforms in place of such a law.”

In spite of the positive trend of decreasing use of muscle power, he expressed his discomfort over the continued use of money in elections.

Its need to be recalled that while answering a question during an interview, Chief Election Commissioner SY Qureshi had said Right to Recall could destabilise India and had raised concern on the resulting political social consequences if the law is implemented.
