New Delhi: A rip off at big scale is taking place in the ongoing appointment of “guest teachers”  in the government schools of Delhi. The issue came to light when an internal circular of Directorate of Education (DoE) was issued to the schools and officials of the education department.

According to the circular, rules are clearly being violated by keeping the meritorious candidates at bay and making way for others.

After getting related complaints, the DoE issued the circular to all the 12 district education offices on August 10 asking them to submit status report over the appointment of “guest teachers”.

Taking account of the issue, DoE Director Diwan Chand has ordered the Deputy Directors of Education to send reports of all the schools falling in their zone.
According to sources, a high level committee has also been set up by the DoE and it has started probing the matter.

Earlier, the Delhi government had published advertisements for 3000 vacancies for “guest teachers” in schools. In response, 87, 00147 candidates sent their application.

A merit list was prepared and applicants were asked to collect the appointment letters directly from the schools.
