Greater Noida: Greater Noida Development Authority (GNDA) is facing heat with the swelling numbers of farmers who have challenged the authority in Allahabad High Court in connection with the land row.

The farmers outside the areas of Noida Extension have also moved the court demanding the dismissal of acquisition of land.

However, GNDA had attempted a compromise with the farmers by persuading them to withdraw the acquisition case by paying additional compensation of Rs 550 per square meter but they are unwilling to withdraw the case lodged against the GNDA.

At present, 365 farmers of 27 villages have registered cases in Allahabad High Court against the land acquisition by the GNDA.

The GNDA may further face trouble as residences and industries have already been set up at the acquired lands of the farmers.

According to sources, the urgency clause used by the GNDA at the time of land acquisition years back has also been applied for the recent acquisitions.

Meanwhile, the High Court has dismissed the acquisition of land in the villages falling under Noida Extension citing the urgency clause. The land acquisition would also be quashed in other villages on the basis of same clause.
