Patna: Main opposition RJD in Bihar on Thursday accused Nitish Kumar government of trying to enforce a "draconian and black law" to prevent people from organizing demonstrations and protests against the government.

"Nitish Kumar government is trying to enforce black and draconian law like Rowlatt Act to gag people's voice and prevent them from holding protest or demonstrations against the government", state RJD president Ram Chandra Purbe and general secretary Ram Kripal Yadav said at a press conference.

Purbe also alleged that the state government was mulling over a proposal to take legal action against those holding demonstrations and protests against the government in Bihar.

State Director General of Police Abhyanand, however, denied the charge and said only violent protests were required to be kept under check to protect government property.
