Lucknow: With the aim to figure out the reasons behind the decline in popularity graph of the party and prepare its strategy for the UP assembly elections 2012, the Rashtriya Lok Dal has organized a two day convention at Varanasi from Friday.

In case of a pre-poll alliance with either the Congress or any other political parties, the RLD leaders wants to contest from the maximum number of assembly seats.

The RLD is trying hard to further expand the vote bank in its stronghold in districts of Western UP. In this regard, RLD supremo Ajit Singh will address the public rallies in Purvanchal, Bundelkhand and the Central part of state.

In addition to it, the party is also in a mood to forge alliance with regional outfit like Peace Party. RLD’s state unit chief Hardeb Singh said the a change in UP government will benefit the party.

Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav has already given his view that the RLD should merge with the SP. This statement made by Yadav has dented the possibility of any alliance between both the parties. Now, RLD is left with no option but to seal an alliance with the Congress.
