Nainital: Good news for the devotees willing to go on a pilgrimage to the most coveted Kailash-Mansarovar, as the Kumaon Mandal Vikas Nigam (KMVN) has completed special recce of the route to simplify the arduous journey.

The group sent for the recce was to look into the possibilities of improvement in residential facilities, toilets, electricity supply and cementing of the pedestrian path.

KMVN Managing Director Avnendra Singh Nayal said, “Some segments of the pedestrian pilgrimage have to be covered on foot hence there is an urgent need for better facilities on the route.”

A group of commissioners and pilgrimage officials under the leadership of KMVN Zonal Manager DK Sharma were sent for recce of the yatra route.

Gunji, Malpa, Bundi, Gala, and Mangti fall on the pedestrian route on which new compounds will be constructed along with expansion of residential facilities. Efforts will also be made to provide advance facilities to the pilgrims. A separate arrangement will also be made for ponies and donkeys.

Besides the repairing of the pedestrian path, no compromise will be made in the quality of the food provided by private stalls. An efficient system will be put in place to look into this aspect, Nayal added.

Meanwhile, necessary arrangements are also being made to supply electricity for which generators will also be installed on the route.
