New Delhi: Amidst fragrance of jasmine flowers filling up the air and soothing piano symphony creating a special mood, fashion designer Rohit Bal brought down the curtains on Synergy1 Delhi Couture Week on Monday night.

The noted designer showcased his collection named "Shanti" while actor Arjun Rampal playing the showstopper added to the audience's joy during the show.

Dressed in black attire with velvet jacket and black shades, Rampal's entry was greeted with loud applause, as he walked over the ramp with style and attitude in Rohit Bal's creation.

"Walking for Rohit has always been wonderful. He is the one who discovered me in a nightclub, gave me a great platform to start off and gave me lot of confidence. He has taught me a lot about fashion and I can never say no to him," Rampal said after the show.

The actor, who even had 'showstopper' written on his T-shirt, looked embarrassed when he dropped off his shades while walking on the ramp.

"It was Rohit who asked me to wear shades. He asked me to walk in seriously and then take off my shades and in that process the shades fell off," Rampal said later.

"Fashion is fun and as long as you are having fun you would be creative," he added.

Rohit Bal, meanwhile, mesmerised the audience with his collection "Shanti", which he said, "is all about peace, ecstasy and feeling good from within."

His collection displayed his signature style - floral motifs in different patterns on the garments. The collection had a rich look with extensive use of zippers.

The colour palatte included whites, golden, blacks, blues and purples. The collection included gowns, jackets, overcoats, lehengas.

Like designer Manish Malhotra, Bal also showcased some of the men's wear collection which mostly included shewanis and overcoats.

At the end, Bal was seen dancing his way down to join the models donning his outfits, and was later joined by Rampal. Both showered jasmine flowers petals on the guests and the models.

Jacqueline dislikes Bollywood celebs on ramp

Meanwhile during designer Gaurav Gupta’s show, Sri Lankan beauty Jacqueline Fernandez was found to be sitting in the front row. She was looking scintillating in Gaurav Gupta's grey net sari with single shoulder blouse.

On asking about Bollywood celebs on ramp she said, "We chose not to walk for the designer because we feel that fashion show is all about clothes and designer's creativity and it's better to let the garments do the talking rather than Bollywood celebrities stealing the limelight as they walk the ramp.”

The designer presented a collection inspired by enchanted forest and showcased garments which had lots of pleats, drapes and ruffles.

The silhouettes were a mix of sari inspired gowns and ghagaras in the hues of creme, pink, gold, copper, yellow, green and turquoise. The fabrics were mostly net, chiffons, georgettes and tulles.

"The collection was inspired by enchanted forest and I tried to create a fantasy world with surrealism depicting lot of femininity and elegance. I have presented a classic collection in modern look," said Gaurav.

Also present in the front row was actor Shakti Kapoor's daughter Shradha.
