New Delhi: Defending double trap champion Ronjan Sodhi and skeet shooter Arti Singh Rao have been selected to represent India in the ISSF World Cup Shotgun finals, to be held in Maribor, Slovenia from September 20-26.

For Sodhi, this would be his sixth consecutive appearance in the event. The marksman from Punjab is the only Indian who holds the distinction of participating in the competition for five years at a stretch.

Sodhi has won gold medals in 2010 and 2011.

For Arti, this would be her first appearance in the event.

"The International Shooting Sports Federation (ISSF) in its communiqué has informed NRAI about selection of two shotgun shooters for ISSF World Cup Finals. Mr Ronjan Sodhi in Double Trap and Ms Arti Singh Rao in Skeet women, have been selected for this Finale World Cup this year," the National

Rifle Association of India said in a statement here on Friday.

The selection is done by ISSF on the basis of performance of shooters during World Cups conducted during the year and only 12 shooters per event from across world are selected for this competition.

In the last edition, Sodhi shot 142 out of 150 to clinch the gold medal, while in 2010, he did one better as he shot 143 to win the yellow metal.

In 2009, he finished eighth after tallying 137, and had a similar finish with a score of 136 a year before.

Sodhi ended 11th after he shot 136 in his first appearance at the event.
