Students’ protest over Kanya Vidya Dhan

Moradabad: Girl students clamoured on Friday when they came to know that their names were missing in the list of Kanya Vidhya Dhan beneficiaries.

More than 100 girl students visited District Invigilation Officer of School (DIOS) office on Friday afternoon. They first started shouting slogan and then gheraoed the officers who were present there. DIOS Moradabad and CDO Sambhal were also present there in the meeting.

Disgruntled students blocked the Court road when there was no hearing on the issue.  Administration failed to clear the jam as the agitating girls became more violent.

Annoyed girls said that the government had a responsibility to benefit each girl under this scheme by giving the amount directly into their bank accounts but the officials are taking to a lengthy process for disbursement of funds.

Uttar Pradesh’s Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on December 10 would distribute ‘Kanya Vidhya Dhan’ in a Zonal programme. A total of 1927 girl students have been selected out of 10292 who had applied for the benefit.
