New Delhi: Even as the tussle between the Centre and Uttar Pradesh government over alleged irregularities in Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MNREGS)  continues, the Union Minister of Rural Development Jairam Ramesh has sanctioned another installment of Rs 1200 crores for the state.

In his letter to UP Rural Development Minister Daddu Prasad, Ramesh has warned the Maywati led government should take action on the pending complaints regarding irregularities of funds and corrupt officials to avail the next installment. He also made it clear that the state government must submit the implementation list to the Centre by December 10.

Taking note of the transparency and accountability in NREGA, the Union Minister has asked the state government to fulfill the assurance given by it.

It needs to be mentioned that, Ramesh and Mayawati recently hit the headlines for their attacks and counter attacks on misappropriation of MNREGS fund.

In his first letter to BSP supremo, the Union Minister sought CBI probe into the functioning of NREGA in UP. However, Mayawati denied all the allegations.

According to sources, the Centre took the decision to grant another installment of grant to the state considering the upcoming assembly polls in Uttar Pradesh.
