Ahmadabad: In the face of the assembly elections in Gujarat, the Leuva Patel community in Saurashtra organized a double millennium march to showcase their strength.

Giving an exemplary example of power of unity through spirituality, the Leuva Patel community collected a whopping sum of Rs 125 crore in an hour for the construction of the Khodaldham temple. As much as Rs 250 crore would be required to build the temple.

A diamond merchant and former BJP MLA Dhiru Gajera donated Rs 5 crore and others made a contribution of Rs 25 crore.

The function was attended by the Leuva Patel community of seven countries including US, UK and Australia.  

The proposed temple at Kagvad is of Maa Khodiyar, the deity of the Leuva Patel community.

While more than twenty lakh people of the community across the globe participated in the foundation stone-laying ceremony of the Temple, as many as 50,000 couples congregated to offer prayers thereby creating a unique world record.
