Erode: The Hindu Religious Endowment Board has recovered 45 cents of temple land located on the National Highways worth Rs 15 crore, officials said on Friday.
The Chozeeswarar temple is located at Perundurai and for the past 50 years some private persons had encroached the land and constructed houses without paying any money to the Board.

After getting orders from the Madras High Court, the Board attempted to vacate the encroachers, but they sought interim injunction which was declined and the board was asked to evict them in January 2012.

So the Board issued notices to the encroachers and they moved out on their own, sources said. A fence has been erected around the retrieved land.
