Gurgaon: The Haryana government will spend Rs 2,500-crore on strengthening power distribution system in the state, a top official said on Friday.

The plan will be executed with three main targets in sight, including evacuation of available additional power to increase hours of supply, chairman and managing director of Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam and Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam Devender Singh said at a meeting of engineers.

He asked them to prepare all detail project reports under the plan on the basis of the targets. The ongoing campaign to strengthen power distribution is also part of an ambitious plan which will be completed by June, he said. Devender Singh said power distribution utilities intended to increase power supply in next financial year by two-three hours. Power was already available and the need was to strengthen distribution and to reduce losses in villages, he said.

He asked officials to identify feeders with more breakdowns and maintain or bifurcate them by March for interruption-free power during summers.
