Bhopal: As per decision of the Union Cabinet, so far relief amount to the tune of Rs 465.18 crore has been distributed among 25, 701 Bhopal gas tragedy victims, the state government was informed on Friday.

The information was given at a meeting of departmental advisory committee chaired by Gas Relief and Rehabilitation Minister Babulal Gaur on Friday.

The families of 5300 residing in 13 slums victimized during the Bhopal gas tragedy have been provided with free drinking water connections.

In total 7000 gas-affected families will be provided with water connections by August 15.

The committee members Jitendra Daga and Arif Aqueel were also present at the meeting which included departmental Principal Secretary D.K. Samantray, Commissioner M.K. Varshney, Deputy Secretary K.K. Dube, BMC Commissioner Manish Singh and Chief Medical Officer Gas Relief Dr. Ravi Verma.

Gaur said that serious patients should be referred to Bhopal Memorial Hospital and Research Centre from Gas Relief Hospitals only after advice of senior doctors. Chief Medical Officer Gas Relief has been made nodal officer for this, who will keep monitoring treatment of referred patients on a regular basis.
