New Delhi: An ambitious urban traffic management system to study the traffic system in Madhya Pradesh has failed despite spending a sum of Rs five crore. The scam is being referred as Rs 5 crore traffic scam.

The system was developed to study the traffic system of Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior and Jabalpur. According to sources, hardly any study was ever carried out for preparation of the plan.

The state government has ordered an inquiry into the matter.

In 2009, a proposal was mooted to carry out a traffic survey. The funds were arranged and a survey was started in 2010. It is believed that the State Crime Record Bureau (SCRB) is also involved in this scam.
