Lucknow: A massive scam worth Rs 50 crore was unearthed in the Seed Development Corporation of Uttar Pradesh.

The scandal was revealed in the information provided under the RTI application filed by Anand Kumar Singh, who is a farmer by profession.

On the basis of the information, Singh filed an FIR against the project officer of Seed Corporation, Lucknow, Surendra Pratap Singh, Bareilly project officer Ram Kumar Verma, marketing department chairman Hari Kishore Prasad and deputy chief financial officer Prithviraj Manchanda.

These officials are accused of siphoning off crores of grants and incentives allotted by the Centre as well as the state government in collusion with the seed mafia in fake names of farmers. As per Ashutosh Pandey DIG Lucknow range, the case is being investigated presently and if needed, it will be transferred to the Economic Offences Wing.

Besides this, Anil Kumar Singh has also filed a PIL in the High Court charging Seed Development Corporation headquarters C 937/74 Faizabad Road of siphoning amount worth crores from the corporation since last 7-8 years through fake names and addresses of farmers, agricultural land and forged documents.

Not only this, out of 8-10 lakh quintal unregularised wheat seed in the state, 2-2.5 lakh quintal wheat grains were sold in open market in collusion with the seed mafia.

Apart from this, payment was made through fake names of farmers and forged papers.

After purchasing wheat from the open market, the officials and brokers used to divide the grants and incentives which were given by the government for purchasing seeds.

In this connection , Managing Director Uttar Pradesh Seed Development Corporation Aadesh Bishnoi said, “I am not aware of the case but once I receive a copy of the report, then only  I can make a comment in this regard as I have joined office only last month”.
