Chandigarh: The Punjab Education Department has chalked out a strategy to strengthen sports infrastructure in the schools of the state.

This would require Rs nine crore in order to provide better guide and modern sports kits to the sportspersons, Education Minister Sikandar Singh Maluka said while presiding over a meeting of Punjab School Physical Education Development Fund Committee.

Maluka further said that the education department has also decided to give 25 percent extra marks to all those students who win medals at state level, National level and international level.

He said that coaching will be imparted to students in morning and evening so that they could excel in sports events. Maluka asked physical education teachers to give at least two more hours after school so that they could impart training to the students.

The minister further said that the education department has also decided to invite online entries for all National and international level competitions on the pattern of Indian sports school federation.
