Reports suggest that Madhav’s designation in the BJP will be decided only after the new president is appointed. There are speculations that Madhav will take over as the BJP’s national general secretary.

Madhav had earlier last month said that the RSS will not interfere in the functioning of BJP-led NDA government at the Centre.

“Sangh has not given any guidelines to the BJP nor to Modi after the party’s historic victory in the Lok Sabha polls. The RSS never keeps any remote control to perform any role in politics and government," Madhav had said.

Madhav’s association with the RSS goes back to his childhood days. He formally volunteered to be full-time worker for RSS in 1981 and has since then been assigned to several key positions in the organization.

He has been serving as the RSS national spokesperson from 2003 onwards.
