New Delhi: The complaints of not getting desired information under Right to Information (RTI) are very common, but an instance of receiving information which was never sought has come to light for the first time.

Subhash Chandra Agrawal filed an RTI petition before Sub Commandant and Appellate Officer, ASC Centre, Bengaluru (South) on June 20, 2011 seeking certain information on rules in Indian Army, especially the 1963 law and the minimum qualification required for recruitment of a driver.

But to the surprise of the petitioner, he was provided with the details of Anna Hazare’s service in the army.

On being asked about the faux pas, he was told that the information was asked by another petitioner and thus the blunder happened.

The petitioner was further told that the information provided to him falls under RTI section 11(1), hence there is no case of an information leakage.
