Puducherry: Tension prevailed at a meeting of DMK's local unit executive committee meeting with some persons objecting to lack of proper procedure in convening and holding the meeting.

The new party convener Dr MA Subramanian chaired the meeting, the first after he succeeded former Chief Minister RV Janakiraman recently.

As soon as Dr Subramanian began reading out resolutions some people protested procedural lapses and wanted him to ensure the new premises where the meeting was being held be handed over to the party before holding the conclave as promised.

Dr Subramanian, the building owner, said he would soon hold a big function and hand over the building to the party.

A group allegedly owing allegiance to a former DMK legislator) against presence of those not members of the executive and  wanted to know who had invited these members.

With tension building up senior DMK functionary and former Rajya Sabha member C P Tirunavukarasu intervened and announced the meeting had come to an end.

Later Dr Subramanian told newsmen the meeting was put off after adopting nearly 12 resolutions.As the party did not have its own premises all these years he had decided to hand over his building `Kalaignar Illam` (venue of the meeting) to the party.
