New Delhi: The second day of the Delhi Assembly session saw ruling party discussing shabby condition of roads in the national capital.

In the absence of the Opposition, the ruling party called for Attention Motion on the worn out state of roads in Delhi, especially for those which fall under the MCD’s jurisdiction.

Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit said that MCD Mayor, Standing Committee chairman and Lt Governor will be informed about the condition of roads. She said that MP and MLA funds were also left unutilised.

The House had discussed about the bad condition of roads on Thursday as well. The ruling party unanimously moved a Censure Motion (without the Opposition) condemning the condition of the roads.

After the Question Hour on Friday, the ruling party called for an Attention Motion.
Public Works Department Minister Rajkumar Chauhan said the responsibility of roads in the national capital fall under two departments-MCD and PWD.

“You can assess that the roads under PWD are well maintained and those by the MCD paint a sorry picture. Roads under MCD have potholes due to which even DTC buses are not able to operate. Garbage is also seen by the roadside,” said Chauhan.
