Forex dealers said that besides the dollar's gains against other currencies overseas, increased demand from importers for the American unit put pressure on the rupee but a higher opening in the domestic equity market capped losses.
The rupee ended at one-month high by gaining 13 paise at 60.39 against the dollar on Thursday on sustained selling of US currency.
Meanwhile, the benchmark BSE Sensex rose 69.32 points, or 0.25 percent, to 27,155.25 in the morning trade.
