Forex dealers said a weakening dollar against some currencies overseas and early gains in domestic equity markets supported the rupee.
The rupee had shed 9 paise to end at 64.13 against the US dollar on Friday on sustained demand for the American currency from banks and importers.
The benchmark BSE Sensex rose 86.92 points, or 0.30 percent, to 28,201.48 in morning trade.
