Gain in stock market in early trade also helped rupee strengthen against the dollar, they added.

Yesterday, rupee had ended flat at 67.48 against the US dollar on fag-end selling of the greenback by bankers and exporters in view of a weak dollar in overseas markets.

Meanwhile, the benchmark BSE Sensex recovered 47.92 points or 0.17 percent to trade at 26,813.57 in morning trade.
