Moscow: On the 25th anniversary of the Chernobyl catastrophe, President Dmitry Medvedev said that Russia is to propose a plan to boost safety at the world's nuclear power plants at the G8 summit in May.

"In May this year Russia will come forward with a concrete initiative on increasing security of nuclear power stations at the Group of Eight summit," Medvedev said.

He also added,"They will be related to increasing responsibility of the countries using nuclear energy.”

Russia has said it remains committed to nuclear power even after the accident at the quake-damaged Fukushima nuclear power plant in Japan.
