Chandigarh: The Shiromani Akali Dal and Bharatiya Janata Party alliance is going to try same method in Punjab local body polls which helped it to retain power in the state in last assembly elections about three months ago. Once again the BJP-SAD alliance is set to contest the forthcoming polls on development plank.

Both the parties have enlisted their past 5-year achievements on developmental front for coming local body polls in Jalandhar, Ludhiana and Patiala.

It seems that the BJP-SAD alliance is going to leave no stone unturned in wooing the voters by highlighting their developmental works like construction of fly over bridges, installing streets lights, parks, city roads, proving drinking water facilities and improving the condition of sewage.

Presently, Ludhiana and Patiala have SAD mayors whereas Jalandhar and Amritsar have BJP mayors. This time no internal bickering is apparent within SAD over the issue of ticket distribution but in BJP is under pressure of party workers who are seeking change of candidates in many constituencies.

On other hand, Congress is going through the same problem which it had faced during recent assembly elections. State congress Chief Capt. Amrinder Singh refused to change any candidate and announced to take disciplinary action against those partymen who are working against the party interests.

Local body elections are absolutely based on local issues where candidate's image and work both plays an important role. So, keeping the limitations of local body polls in mind, BJP-SAD alliance has made some changes in their strategy to retain power in state local bodies.
