Yadav said that he will not contest the polls this time to help the ruling Janata Dal-United (JD-U) leader from here.

"I have withdrawn my nomination as an Independent candidate. I will not contest the polls," Yadav said.

Yadav, brother of Rabri Devi and brother-in-law of Rashtriya Janata Dal (FJD) chief Lalu Prasad, praised Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.

"I strongly feel that Nitish Kumar is a better leader than others in Bihar and across the country," he said.

Yadav had earlier announced he would contest the Lok Sabha polls against Rabri Devi from Saran constituency, but later decided to contest from Maharajganj.
