Bhopal: Activist Swami Agnivesh on Monday alleged that Pragya Singh Thakur, an accused in Malegaon bomb blast, was subjected to third degree torture in a Bhopal jail.

After being told about the worsening health condition of sadhvi, Swami Agnivesh visited her in Bhopal Central Jail where she has been lodged since last year. She has been diagnosed with breast cancer.

Vowing to safeguard her human rights, Agnivesh said that he would bring her worsening condition and the inhuman treatment by the jail authorities with her in the notice of Union Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde and seek a fair and speedy trial in her case.

“Given her worsening health conditions besides being a woman, she should be granted bail,” he said.

In the past, Pragya Singh herself had alleged torture by the Maharashtra ATS when she was lodged in the Nashik Central Jail.

Pragya’s bail application had been pending with the Bombay High Court for months.
