Ahmadabad: Taking the cognizance of non availability of proper facilities to the CBI to carry out the investigation into the 2003 Sadiq Jamal encounter case, the Gujarat High Court has issued a notice to the state government.

Gujarat High Court Justice M R Shah asked the state government, why has it failed in providing proper facilities to the investigating agency in the last six months?

"You have not done anything else, except for exchange of correspondence in this period," the court observed.

CBI counsel Mukul Sinha in his plea filed in the Gujarat High Court had said, “As the basic infrastructure has not been provided to the CBI, it is still functioning from government guest house. The CBI was asked to complete the investigation within six months.”

However, following the criticism from the High Court, the state government’s home department had provided a Special Task Force to the probing agency.

Sadiq was killed in an encounter with city crime branch officials in Naroda area on January 12, 2003.
