Bhopal: The Bollywood star and Kareena Kapoor’s current bueu Saif Ali Khan is set to take over his family title of ‘Nawab’ after his father Nawab Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi’s demise last month to carry forward the royal legacy.

Meanwhile, Saif’s younger sister Saba Ali Khan Pataudi has taken over as the first woman head or ‘naib mutawalli’ of the Auqaf-e-Shahi which looks after the family’s religious properties in Bhopal.

She has inherited her father’s chair which was passed on to him by Tiger Pataudi’s maternal grandfather Hamidullah Khan, the Nawab of Bhopal.

On her first visit to Bhopal after becoming the deputy chief trustee of the Auqaf-e-Shahi, Saba said, she had acquired her father’s seat according to his will and the same describes Saif to be the heir of the Nawab legacy.

She hinted that soon there will be a simple celebration to award the title of ‘Nawab’ to Saif Ali Khan.
She said, “The ceremony will take place in Pataudi village as the villagers also want Saif to become a Nawab.”

However, she said that if the people of Bhopal want, the function can take place in the city itself.
On being asked about her brother’s marriage, she said, “Better ask Bhai, when he wants to marry. The family is also waiting for this good news.”

Asked about her dreams for the Auqaf-e-Shahi, she said, “It was Abba’s dream that I should take on this work but it came too soon. I still have a lot to learn.”

The Auqaf-e-Shahi will soon take prominent decision on girls’ education and will also provide scholarship to them. She also gave a check of Rs 5 lakh to Chairman Gufran Azam of the general hospital being constructed at the junk hamlet of Bhopal by the Waqf Board.

She kept busy all day meeting with various officials.

On being asked about how much time she will be able to devote to the organization, she said, “It was my father’s dream so I will devote as much time is required and will even stay in Bhopal if needed.”
