Bhubaneswar: Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL) on Saturday said its employees won 103 of the 189 Prime Minister 'Shram' awards given this week for three years from 2008-2010.
    
The awards were presented by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Labour and Employment Minister Mallikarjun Kharge, the company said.
    
The estimated savings resulting from implementing the award-winning projects are over Rs 440 crore on a recurring basis and Rs 220 crore on a one-time basis, it added.
    
Constituted by the Government of India, the Shram awards are given in recognition of distinguished performance, innovative abilities, outstanding contribution in the field of productivity and exhibition of exceptional courage and the presence of mind.
