Margao: Hosts Salgaocar Sports Club would be looking to get back to winning ways when they take on young guns Pailan Arrows on Friday in a second-round I-League clash at the Nehru Stadium in Fatorda.

The defending champions, who lost to Dempo in their lung opener, are confident of getting the better of the nexperienced Arrows.

Salgaocar failed to display the usual flair on the flanks against Dempo, and were mostly restricted in a midfield battle.

"It was our first match and the boys were bound to commit mistakes as they were eager to give their best. Our boys put up a good performance overall but conceded a silly goal after some misunderstanding between the midfield and the defence that saw us end up with a defeat," stated coach Karim Bencherifa.

"Tomorrow is a different game as we play against young Indian players who are full of energy and will throw everything at us. We have beaten them in the Federation Cup and also have the home advantage, but cannot take things for granted," he added.

Arrows, who have a new look team consisting mostly of Under-21 players with four of them doing duty for the national team, had a pratice session at the Nehru Stadium this morning.

Arrows' coach Sukhwinder Singh said his team, which lost its first match against Mohun Bagan, was a young, inexperienced and developing squad, but should not be underestimated.

"Our team is in a developing stage as these boys will represent India in future. They are eager to give their best. Salgaocar are the in-form team as they are the winners of I-League and Federation Cup and we respect them.

"But we have done our homework and nobody can take us for granted. We will play entertaining football and give our best to collect our first full points," Singh said.

Pailan have been hit hard in the absence of skipper Shilton D'Silva, who hasn't yet recovered from the knee injury he suffered during the Federation Cup clash against Mumbai FC.

Apart from Shilton, midfielder Tirthankar and striker Maslmwfela are also missing from the team as both are participating in the ongoing national camp in Doha for the AFC U-19 qualifiers, scheduled to be held later this month.
