Margao: Defending Champions Salgaocar will look to bounce back after their last match defeat to Air India when they take on Sporting Clube de Goa on Saturday in the fourth round of I-League championship here at Nehru Stadium, Fatorda.

Salgaocar, the defending Champions and winner of the Federation Cup, came back strongly in their second match, beating minnows Pailan Arrows 4-0, after going down to Dempo fighting in their opening encounter.

But the 1-3 defeat against Air India has placed them in the eighth position with three points.

Salgaocar coach Karim Bencherifa admitted that his boys did not play well and the two soft goals conceded in the early part of the game had a bearing on the team performance.

"The league is in early stage and such thing happens as the team needs time to settle. We will bounce back tomorrow," he said.

On the other hand, Sporting secured a fantastic win against Shillong Lajong after two draws earlier, taking them to fifth position with five points. The team would now look to keep the winning momentum.

It was a superb win with their strikers putting in a good performance. Young Victorino Fernandes stole the show scoring two goals to see his team come back from defeat, but Sporting need to find a way to rectify the weakness in their rear which is vulnerable under pressure.

Sporting coach Ekendra Singh is likely to make a few changes to the team to strengthen the defence.

"Salgaocar are defending Champions who have won the Federation Cup and we need to respect them. Although, we enjoy a slight edge over them as we have beaten them twice this season," said Singh, adding that Saturday's match would be fought closely.
