Kolkata: The 120,000 capacity Salt Lake stadium undergoing renovation for International friendly between Argentina and Venezuela will be ready by Monday and handed over to the organisers four days ahead of the fixture, state sports minister Madan Mitra said on Saturday.

The organisers of the friendly, Celebrity Management Group, meanwhile, said the official match ball would be unveiled on Sunday.

"The stadium was 98 per cent ready with only finishing touches left and it will be completed by Sunday," Mitra said.

"We will hand over the stadium on Monday. You will be happy to see a completely new and refurbished Salt lake Stadium," Mitra said.

As for the things left to be done, two digital scoreboards will be installed, while the players' tunnel leading to the ground will be made air-conditioned and stadium lighting will be fixed on Sunday.

Mitra reasoned that the Public Works Department who were in-charge of the renovation faced many hurdles so it took them a little longer than deadline.

"We faced with a lot of hurdles... Right from a very active monsoon to the students camp going on in the stadium. The work got delayed by 10 to 15 days. But it's almost ready and will be completed in 48 hours," Mitra said.

The state government owned stadium in Salt lake, second largest non-auto racing stadium in the world, went on a major overhaul for the star-studded fixture on September 2.

The players and officials of the two teams will start arriving in three batches from Sunday. Star attraction of the match, Lionel Messi, however will arrive in the last batch on August 30.
