New Delhi: With stage set for the declaration of Uttar Pradesh assembly election results on March 6, the Samajwadi Party (SP) has begun with its post poll calculations.

Considering itself as the front runner to form the government, the SP has begun to chalk out plans to keep the unity of the party intact along with deciding on its future strategies if it takes control over levers of power in the state.

“If the party comes to power it will first fulfill the promises made during the election campaign,” said a senior source in the SP.

Taking serious note of the loopholes during the party’s last tenure as ruling government in UP, the party high command will give strict directives to the MPs and district level leaders to maintain law and order in the state.

It is being said that the SP remained very careful throughout the election campaign and refrained from making any rhetoric focusing on its envisaged agenda of reaching out to the masses.

On being questioned about the potential candidate for top post in the state, the national general secretary and party spokesperson Ramgopal Yadav said, “The decision regarding CM’s post will be taken by the party MLAs. There would be hardly any member who will object to Akhilesh being the CM.”
