New Delhi: The flame of the Army Chief General V K Singh’s birth date controversy has started engulfing the proceedings in the Parliament as well.

Samajwadi Party is planning to bring a breach of privilege motion against Defence Minister AK Antony for furnishing incorrect details about the birth records of the Army Chief to the House.

Speaking on the matter, senior Samajwadi Party leader Mohan Singh said that Antony provided incorrect details in reply to his question on the issue.

Replying to a question in the Rajya Sabha on September 7, Antony had informed that General V K Singh’s birth date has been maintained as May 10, 1950 at the time of his selection as Corps Commander in 2006, as well as his subsequent promotions as Army Commander in 2008 and Chief of the Army Staff in 2010.

Dissatisfied over the answer, Mohan Singh maintained that Antony should either amend his reply or be ready to face a breach of privilege motion for misleading the Parliament on the issue.
