New Delhi: Vying to reach out to the Muslims with a view to garner their maximum support ahead of the UP Assembly polls, the Samajwadi Party has decided to capitalize on the Batla House encounter issue in the elections. The party has roped in the local Legislator to narrate the alleged fake encounter to the masses to garner support of minorities in the state.

Asif Mohammad Khan, Rashtriya Janata Dal Legislator from Okhla constituency has assured the Samajwadi Party of his support by exposing the role of Congress-led UPA government in the Batla House encounter case.

Speaking to Dainik Jagran, Asif Mohammad Khan said, “I am supporting the Samajwadi Party in the UP Assembly elections because SP was the first party to reach out to the people of our area. The party felt the grief of Muslim community and extended its condolences and they continue to do so.”

Attacking the Congress on the Batla issue, Khan said, “The Congress party which has the reputation of sending its own ministers behind bars in Bhanwari Devi murder case and instituting CBI enquiry, ignored to even acknowledge the grief and emotions of Muslims in the Batla case.”

He added, “Had the investigations confirmed the Batla encounter as genuine, the Muslim community would have been at the receiving end. While the Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh terms the encounter fake, the party and Central government still claim it to be genuine. This definitely proves that they are misleading the Muslims.”

According to the sources, Mohammad Asif Khan will address mass gatherings in Muslim majority areas on behalf of the Samajwadi Party. He will expose the Congress by presenting authentic evidence to show the reality of the encounter and the alleged foul play by the ruling party, sources claimed.
