"Starting today, Samsung GS4 and HTC One Google Play edition devices are getting an update to Android 4.4," said Google on its official Android page. Google had earlier promised that it will soon release the software update for Google Play editions of Samsung Galaxy S4 and HTC One.

The key features of Android 4.4 KitKat include translucent menu bar, new caller ID, unified Hangouts messaging app, better Google Now integration, step counter and detector and more efficient screen recording.

For HTC One, Google Play Edition gets the 305MB KitKat update, which is now available. Users are also provided with an option to download it manually. The consumers, who updated their phones, have reported spectacular improvement in device’s performance and completely satisfied with KitKat. The company confirmed that this update for HTC One for EMEA countries will be available by the end of January 2014.

Nexus 4 has also reportedly started receiving Android 4.4 KitKat update in India via OTA alongside the Nexus 7 3G tablet model.
