As per the sources, the electronics firm is going to unveil its smart watch “Galaxy Gear” early next month ahead of Apple's iWatch.

The Galaxy Gear, powered by Google's Android operating system, will allow users to make calls, access email and even surf the web. The first version of the smart watch would not have a flexible screen, sources say. It is likely to be launched on September 4.

The world's top handset maker will also launch its new Galaxy Note 3 on the same day, a website reported.

In June this year, electronics giant Sony has unveiled the latest version of its SmartWatch, which links with smartphones to receive alerts about phone calls, emails and updates from social networks and also includes a music function.

Notably, Apple is rumoured to be working on unveiling its "iWatch", which is set be the biggest gadget launch by the firm since the iPad mini last year.
