Bhopal: Vowing to promote cooperation and unity among peoples of the world, over 400 scholars and religious experts from 19 countries here on Sunday adopted 'Sanchi Declaration' which resolved to promote exchanges in various fields such as art literature, physical and applied sciences.

The declaration came following foundation laying ceremony of "Sanchi University of Buddhist and Indic Studies" in Sanchi, about 45 kms from here, by Sri Lanka President Mahinda Rajapaksa on September 21.

"We resolve to promote exchanges of scholars in a variety of disciplines of social, physical and applied sciences, including faculties such as art,architecture,literature and philosophical...

 "We resolve to promote cooperation and unity among peoples of the world," said the declaration by over scholars and religious experts who participated in the two-day conference 'Dharma-Dhamma'.

The meet was organised jointly by the Department of Culture, Government of Madhya Pradesh, Centre for the Study of Religion and Society and the Mahabodhi Society of Sri Lanka.

Giving his valedictory address, Senior BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi said people across the world were facing problems because of extreme desires.

 "The world has gone out of balance. We need to find the middle path to maintain the balance. Extreme on either side is not good," he said.

Joshi said the present conference was a modest but a significant beginning and it will endeavour to find a well balanced non-violent and an egalitarian world order.
