Amritsar: Leaving no stone unturned in trying to save the life of Sarabjit, who is currently lodged in a Pakistan jail for his involvement in 1990 serial bomb blasts in Lahore and Multan that killed 14 people, his family members have knocked the door of National Commission for Schedule Castes and Schedule Tribes.

Accepting the plea filed by Sarabjit’s sister Dalbir Kaur, the Commission has sent notices to the Union Home Ministry and Foreign Affairs Ministry seeking information in 30 days about Sarabjit.

The family members of Sarabjit met Vice-Chairman of the Commission, Dr Raj Kumar at the circuit house on Saturday.

After the meeting, Raj Kumar said, “The discussion would be held with the Centre to save Sarabjit’s life. A team of the Commission will meet Sarabjit in Pakistan’s Kotlakpathrai jail.”

The Commission has held discussion with the Centre for providing government job to the family members of Sarabjit. The Commission will also write to Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal in this regard.
