The former director general of police, who worked as security advisor for the tainted company, was called for interrogation following a search of his residence on 14th August,14 in which several documents were seized by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) sleuths.

The Indian Police Service officer was accused by suspended Trinamool Congress Rajya Sabha member Kunal Ghosh who is now behind bars for his alleged complicity in the scandal.

Ghosh claimed that Majumdar took several crores of rupees as the key organizer of the Saradha-sponsored 'Banga Sammelan', a three-day program by non-resident Bengalis in Las Vegas in 2012. Majumdar, who also served as a poll observer for the Trinamool in Birbhum for the panchayat election in 2013, has rubbished the allegations.

‘All the allegations are false,’ Majumdar said while entering the CBI office in New Delhi on Saturday. The CBI on Thursday secured the custody of scam kingpin Sudipta Sen and East Bengal Football Club official Debabrata Sarkar.

While Sen has been behind bars since April 2013, Sarkar was nabbed on Wednesday by the central agency.
