New Delhi: In a startling revelation in the illegal mining case against the Reddy brothers in Karnataka, it has been revealed that the CBI managed to fix the Bellary brothers with the help of satellite images of the mining areas taken by the Indian Space Research Organistaion (ISRO).

Reddy brothers have been contending that the iron ore was extracted from the mines in Andhra Pradesh and not from the mines in Karnataka.

The premier investigating agency had sought the help of ISRO in pulling the lid off the controversy.

A senior CBI official said, “The agency in order to nail the Reddy brothers took the help of ISRO. And from the satellite images, it was cleared that the areas for which the brothers had received the mining license were never mined.”

The satellite images made it clear that the iron ores which were said to be extracted from the mines of Andhra Pradesh were actually illegally taken out from mines of Karnataka.

After the arrest of Srinivas and Janardhan Reddy, the possibility Karunakara Reddy going behind bars has increased.

A senior CBI official said, “As the Reddy brothers were the Directors and Managing Director of the Obulapuram Mining Corporation (OMC), it became obvious that they had to be arrested first.” “After the role of Karunakara Reddy which is under scanner becomes clear, he may also be arrested,” the official added.

The investigating agency is now gearing up to take the Reddy brothers into remand and start the inquiry.

Former Karnataka minister Gali Janardhan Reddy and Managing Director of Obulapuram Mining Company B V Srinivas Reddy, both of whom were arrested in connection with alleged illegal mining, on Tuesday moved their bail petitions in the special CBI court which may be heard on Wednesday.

G Janardhan Reddy and B V Srinivas Reddy were on Monday arrested by CBI after raiding their premises in which the sleuths have reportedly seized over 30 kg of gold and more than Rs 4.5 crore in cash.
