New Delhi:Decks are cleared for fresh recruitments of presenting officers in UP Public Services Tribunal with Supreme Court giving a stay order on Allahabad High Court verdict for renewing the services of working officers.

A Division Bench comprising Justices JM Panchal and Justices HL Gokhale gave an interim order while hearing a petition filed on behalf of the UP government.

The state government has decided to challenge the Allahabad High Court ruling in the Supreme Court.

Two lawyers namely PN Mishra and Kamlendra Mishra who had been appointed by the UP government to challenge the HC verdict had pleaded that presenting officers are recruited for a year whereas in the present case they have been holding their posts since 1992.

While making a reference to an earlier Supreme Court ruling regarding appointment of pleaders in District Courts in which the Apex Court had ruled that such appointments are generally made on professional terms, the Bench gave an interim stay order on the High Court ruling and postponed the hearing.
