Mumbai(Agencies): A delegation of journalists from print and electronic media representing various organisations on Monday met Maharashtra Governor K Sankaranarayanan, protesting the alleged remarks by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar against journalists at a rally in Nanded on Friday.

  The delegation led by Convenor of the Patrakar Halla Virodhi Kruti Samiti SM Deshmukh and President of the State Accreditation Committee Prafulla Marpakwar told the Governor that the Deputy Chief Minister "instigated the police against journalists after which the police beat up some of the mediapersons covering the rally."
    
The delegation while seeking an unconditional apology from the Deputy Chief Minister "within 48 hours", requested that the Police Inspector and other policemen who beat up the journalists be suspended and the Superintendent of Police of Nanded be transferred immediately.

 The Governor assured the delegation that he will speak to the Chief Minister in the matter.

 The delegation included Prasad Mokashi, President, Mumbai Marathi Patrakar Sangh, Aniket Joshi,President, Mantralaya Vartahar Sangh, Kiran Naik, Treasurer, Marathi Patrakar Parishad, Shashikant Sandbhor, President, TV journalists Association and Yadu Joshi, President, Maharashtra Union of Working Journalists.
    
Journalists also met Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan while protesting Ajit Pawar's remarks.
