Patiala House court’s decision on Thursday came as a respite for the Rajya Sabha MP Amar Singh in cash-for-vote case. The court has dismissed a petition of Hashmat Ali, a key witness in the case, who had sought registration of a criminal case against Amar Singh and two others for their alleged involvement in Ali’s abduction in September 2008.

Former Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh, arrested in the cash-for-votes scam, on Monday filed an application before a Delhi court seeking permission to go out of India for medical treatment. Special Judge Sangita Dhingra Sehgal accepted the application and posted it for hearing on Tuesday.

The Delhi High Court on Monday issued a notice to Delhi Police while hearing pleas for regular and interim bail of Rajya Sabha member and former Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh, an accused in the 2008 cash-for-votes scandal. Delhi Police should file the status report in the case within three days, said Justice Ajit Bharihoke.

The founder and chairman of the Massachusetts-based audio technology company Bose Corporation has died. Amar Bose was 83. Bose's death was announced on Friday by company president Bob Maresca and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where Bose began his acoustics research and was on the faculty for more than 40 years. The cause of his death hasn't been released.
