Mumbai: The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has demanded that five-star hotels in Mumbai should compulsorily show Marathi news channels. State NCP working president Jitendra Awhad has written to Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar about the ‘secondary treatment’ by these hotels to Marathi.

Former Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh, arrested in the cash-for-votes scam, on Monday filed an application before a Delhi court seeking permission to go out of India for medical treatment. Special Judge Sangita Dhingra Sehgal accepted the application and posted it for hearing on Tuesday.

The Delhi High Court on Monday issued a notice to Delhi Police while hearing pleas for regular and interim bail of Rajya Sabha member and former Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh, an accused in the 2008 cash-for-votes scandal. Delhi Police should file the status report in the case within three days, said Justice Ajit Bharihoke.
