Mumbai: The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) put the onus of forming a Joint Lenders' Forum (JLF) on the bank with highest exposure to a distressed borrower and said here that failure to do so would attract higher provisioning penalties for that bank alone.

Washington: President Barack Obama has said he was cautiously "optimistic" about the fight against Ebola in United States, and applauded the international community for an improved response to epidemic in West Africa. Eight people have been treated for Ebola on US soil,including a Liberian man who died in Texas on October 8. Two nurses who cared for him were infected with the disease and are being treated in US hospitals.

Washington: Air defence forces were put on high alert and cities across US increased security after Wednesday's deadly shooting attacks on the Canadian parliament in the capital city of Ottawa. Shortly after the attack, President Barack Obama spoke to Canada's Prime Minister Stephen Harper on the phone and offered any assistance Canada needed in responding to these attacks, the White House said in a statement.
