Army's first cross-border strike in Myanmar kills 20 Northeast insurgents

New Delhi: In the first such cross-border operation, special forces of the Army in coordination with the Air Force carried out a surgical strike inside Myanmar, killing nearly 20 insurgents of the groups believed to be responsible for the deadly ambush in Manipur that killed 18 soldiers.

New Delhi: In a first such cross-border operation, special forces of the Army yesterday carried out a surgical strike inside Myanmar and killed about 20 Northeast insurgents in two militant camps. According to highly placed sources, the operation was guided by 'specific and precise' intelligence input. It has also signalled a paradigm shift in India's strategy when it comes to dealing with terrorism, insurgency and extremism.
