New Delhi: On the chilled winter night of December 16 three years ago,a henious crime shocked the national capital when a girl was gangraped in a moving bus on Delhi road, leading to the countrywide public outrage. The untimely death of the victim acted as a driving force to take actions to curb crime against women. Brutality of the crime and widespread agitation forced the government to amend the existing laws.

New Delhi: As decks seemed to be cleared for the release of the juvenile convict in December 16 gangrape case, Union Minister Maneka Gandhi blamed Rajya Sabha for not passing the bill to amend the Juvenile Justice Act which seeks stringent punishment for children aged between 16-18 involved in heinous crimes.

New Delhi: "Crime has won and we have lost (Jurm jeet gaya, hum haar gaye)" was the immediate reaction of the family of the December 16 gangrape victim, after the Delhi High Court yesterday refused to stay the release of the juvenile convict, who is now a major and due to be set free on Sunday.
