Srinagar: 'Might is right' seems to be the rule of the game as relief distribution in flood-affected areas of Kashmir has been hit by chaos due to lack of civil administration on ground. Scuffles between various groups of flood victims have been witnessed in Mehjoor Nagar, Rambagh, Jawahar Nagar and some other areas of the city over rice bags and other material being brought by relief trucks.

Srinagar/Jammu: In a boost to relief efforts in the flood-ravaged Kashmir Valley, the Jammu-Sringar National Highway re-opened on Tuesday for traffic after remaining closed for 13 days due to landslides triggered by incessant rains.    Engineers of Border Roads Organization (BRO) and Army restored the vital road link.

Kashmir flood relief: Centre seeks daily report from state

New Delhi: The Central government has sought daily report from the Jammu and Kashmir government on the relief and rehabilitation work being carried out in the flood-hit state, a Home Ministry statement said. Besides, the National Crisis Management Committee (NCMC) under the chairmanship of Cabinet Secretary Ajit Seth met here and reviewed the relief work in the flood-affected areas in the state.

Srinagar: The Centre assured all medical help, including sending doctors and paramedic staff, to Jammu and Kashmir to prevent the outbreak of epidemic diseases in the flood-ravaged state. Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan, who toured the devastation-hit state and visited medical camps, said Prime Minister Narendra Modi is personally monitoring the situation.
